I was appointed to the post of a public alumni contact person for Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) in the Netherlands. In this regard, I will play an active role in strengthening and exploring its worldwide network as both a representative of the Japanese local chapter and one of the ambassadors of TU Delft.
I attended the 2010 Africa Day Symposium in Tokyo, Japan. It was held at United Nation University (UNU), which provided a platform to exchange opinions and insights on how Africa and Japan would be able to enhance the meaningful relation to work together, going forward. In this forum, Japanese Imperial Highness Crown Prince made an address on climate changes and environmental problems in Africa that he witnessed during his visit to Ghana and Kenya in the last March of 2010. Representatives from governments, international organizations, academia, among other leaders and professionals also shared their knowledge and thoughts on biodiversity and other environmental issues in the panel discussion. This event was convened as preparations for the upcoming COP17 in South Africa, 2011.
I met up once again with Ms. Baria Daye, Founder & President of Tripoli Youth Forum, in Tripoli, Lebanon. We shared together our common visions and missions, and discussed the possibility of creating a future partnership between us. As a first step, we have reached a unanimous agreement that, upon invitation from Ms. Daye, I would participate in the upcoming event, “FIRST TRIPOLI INTERNATIONAL HALF MARATHON,” which Tripoli Youth Forum organizes as a partner. It will be held on April 25th, 2010, in Tripoli, Lebanon.
I attended the MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) Enterprise Forum Workshop on “Designing and Winning a Business Plan Competition” for the 30 Semi-Finalist Teams of the 3rd MIT Arab Business Plan Competition 2009-2010. It was held at Monroe Hotel, Beirut, Lebanon, and a networking dinner at Four Seasons Hotel, which took place between the sessions of the two-day event, also help facilitate social and business interaction among semi-finalists, jurors, MIT boards, professors, staff and alumni, sponsors, consultants, entrepreneurs and other professionals.
